Stalker LIDAR: HUD dot size at distances
See the Stalker Beam Pattern here:
I usually check a sign again and again for a distance check.
This time it came back "moving" at 3 MPH..
Most LEO seem to like the long range of the LIDAR gun, to "pick cars" out of traffic.
So the NJ superior court (LTI 20/20) case suggested a limit of 1,000 feet
So in sequence below, we start around 1,000 feet and show you HOW PIN POINT
the LIDAR actually is when concentrating on the license plate of a vehicle...
The beam is ~3' @ 1,000 feet. The License plate is 6" x 12".
The Stalker's three beam laser diode puts out a roughly SQUARE 3' x 3' beam.
So lets compare what Stalker HUD tells the operator (above) Vs. the "actual" Below.

3' round is NOT the same surface area as 3' x 3' SQUARE.
Only the Kustom Pro Laser III makes a big deal about the shape being Square.
Remember, the white in the DOT, is the plate.
1,000 Feet
1100 feet
1200 feet
1300 feet
The DOT shows 3/4 of the vehicle covered.
The beam can be calculated to 46.8" or 4' x 4'
1400 feet
Here I take 2 pictures one with the data code removed for clarity.
1600 feet above & below
1700 feet
1800 feet
1900 feet
Here I pull away from the target, notice the HUD info could be accidentally "overlayed"

if the operator wasn't paying perfect attention to the HUD
and was checking the back of the unit display or peeking outside the HUD.
Hmmmmm. Nobody home.......

How to read video time stamps.
Each 1 second of NTSC video is 30 frames (pictures) to make motion.
(PAL, in Europe, is 29 frames)
The time 0:29:11:25 is:
0 Hours, 29 minutes, 11 seconds and 25 (out of 30) frames.....
Check them all out......... Here you get to review all you want.
On the highway its what the operator remembers......
